To establish a platform which raises STEM awareness in the community, maintains a support system for students to graduate and provides leadership development opportunities for STEM professionals.

Executive Board


Neftali Aguilera currently works at Hanmar Corporation, a manufacturing company specializing in metal spinning and deep drawing for aerospace, medical and commercial markets and holds a position of Engineer.


Marina Sangkavichai is currently a college counselor working for the EOPS program at Los Angeles Mission College. She was the STEM counselor for four years for the STEM program. Marina holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Masters Degree in Counseling which she received at California State University, Northridge. She teaches psychology courses on a part time basis and enjoys helping students succeed.

Felipe Contreras Jr. – Treasurer


Felipe holds a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from CSUN. He is currently an Engineer at Caltrans.

Edward Salcido

Edward holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from CSUN. He currently works as a Jr. Data Engineer at J.D. Power & Associates.

Frank Barragan

Frank has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Cal State L.A. and has been in the IT field most of his life. He has been involved with SHPE both as a staff member and as a volunteer. He currently presides as President of the SHPE Greater San Fernando Valley Chapter.


Michael Perez, Packaging Engineer at Northrop Grumman, graduated from California State University, Northridge in 2015 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Michael has been involved with SHPE for 7 years, 1 year as President of the CSUN Chapter and 2 years as VP of External Affairs for SHPE-GSFV. On his free time, Michael enjoys the running, dancing, photography, and poetry.

  • 1991 – SHPE Ventura County Established
  • 1993 – SHPE GSFV Experiences Difficulty
  • 1998 – SHPE GSFV Becomes Dominant
  • 2012 – SHPE GSFV Revived
  • 2012 – SHPE GSFV Establishes Noche de CIencias
